For me you can not solve this problem with a trigger in the same table. When there is a insert on a table you can't change the insert row. a trigger is probably made in the same transaction as the insert and therefore it's not possible. o.k. you can't made the calculation for field C in the client. i would suppose to make an additional table (in the origib table don't make the field C). table additional with fields A,B and C. make a trigger on original table when the insert occurs, and make a insert into the additional table with fields A,B and calculated C. Whendata is selected you have to select the additional table. it's not a solution i like very muchy. rainer
