Locking with LiveWirePro envirnoment

For those of you who are using LWirePro, I wonder what your approach to locking is. When i first started I always used the project.lock() method of Livewire but now I'm wondering about doing away with this altogether and relying on the database engine. if I go for a row-level strategy this should improve concurreny and performance.
