Do you want to: - Open files located on UNIX in Windows 32 bit editor, and/or take them out of version control SW like SCCS and Visual SourceSafe directly from editor - Edit them with full power of MDI/GUI, with * Informix syntax highlighting (croma coding) for 4GL, SQL, SPL, PER, C, C++ and more, * Informix 4GL code beautifiers (adapted versions of CodeBeuty, DbBeauty, InfmxTidy and kw from IIUG) inside the editor * integrated Informix keyword/error help, based on cursor position in the code * column select mode, line draw mode, line number display * macro recorder/editor AND full ANCI C scripting language for automating tasks (all ot this is possible thanks to C interpreter built-in the editor) * spellchecker, * Visual SourceSafe and SCCS integration, * IntelliMouse support, * customizable: keyboard mapping, toolbar, menus, help options, file filters and much more... - Initiate compile process on UNIX from Windows editor, and if errors found, open .err file in place of edited source file, positioned on first error...after errors are corrected, editor strips error messages from source, and re-issue compile command on UNIX - By using rsh/rexec demon on Windows, or 4Js/Dinamic 4GL server on Windows client, initiate application to run on Windows workstation from the editor - Return file directly from Windows editor to UNIX and/or SCCS version control system or Visual SourceSafe - do practically anything that is possible to do in C inside editor, thanks to editor built in C interpreter - Handles 4gl for DOS, 4gl for Windows, remote I-4gl, local and remote D4GL/4Js GUI and CUI - Do everything that you expect from other first class programmers editors...and more Then take good look at www.iridis.com/gwd The GWD editor is shareware. I am just an (very) happy customer, who think that a lot of Informix folks out there can benefit from Informix/ UNIX integration with the power of top-of-the-class programmers editor in Windows environment. We are talking about productivity here. You will see more, be able to do things faster, and automate a lot of boring tasks. I'm planning to upload all 4GL related extensions mentioned here (called GWD-4GL Version 0.1) to the GWD site RSN. But, this is a WERY EARLY beta, and I would like to have some volunteers review its usability for the general public. Volunteers? In my experience, a lot of P/As stick with just vi because the lack of connectivity between files/version control/compiler on UNIX. Not any more. And BTW, support is great. Again, just a happy customer, who is also an Informix P/A (not necessarily in that order...) #include<std.disclaimer.h> **************************************************************** * Andrej Falout, RDBMS R&D, Croatia, Europe, afalout@zg.tel.hr * * ICQ: 7628616 http://wwp.mirabilis.com/7628616 * *--------------------------------------------------------------* * "To develop with a 4GL, the developer does not have to be an * * expert programmer." - John McNally, "Informix Unleashed" * **************************************************************** Last seen: Eating Kiwis down under (AKA afalout@ihug.co.nz)
