Cuesta Systems is a Palo Alto, CA startup that has already won awards for its WWW catalog and commerce sites. We are looking to enhance our engineering team with a UNIX Internet programmer who is excited about the potential of a ground-floor opportunity and who will help us become the premier vendor of commerce-oriented Web sites. We have openings for a Unix/Internet programmer and a Web master/project manager who will... - Develop online catalog applications and WWW sites for Internet commerce using our unique Web site development system. - Work with a team of other programmers, project managers, graphic artists and project designers to design, build and host interactive Web sites for our clients. - Perform Web and UNIX system administration tasks. Candidates should have some or all of the following skills... General technical skills: - Expertise in the UNIX environment. - Knowledge of Internet technologies, WWW applications and Web server architecture. - Database and high-level language programming. Application development skills: - Programming skills in C or C++, Java. - CGI scripting in TCL, Perl. - Database interface and programming (SQL, GDBM) - Experience with rapid application development of customize-able and extensible applications, tools and utilities. - Experience using high level languages to solve concrete problems. System administration skills: - Ability to quickly install and configure Unix systems and Web servers. - Ability to diagnose and fix problems with Internet connections, Web server access, etc. - Knowledge of DNS administration, sendmail, and tools for Unix/Internet network administration. - Database administration, report generation skills. Personal skills: - Excellent communication skills, team player, willingness to learn and teach. - Project management and work load management skills. - Ability to juggle and prioritize many different tasks.
