Boy, have we! We just upgraded 15 ultra 2 from informix 7.23UC1 to 7.3UC2
last month (solaris 2.51 and 2.6). Here's what we found out:
1) any 4gl with an update subquery within a cursor does not work. the
update doesn't happen. But it does work within dbaccess. The fix is an
environment variable NO_SUBQF. Make sure you bounce your instance with that
env sourced. The problem is with the changes they made to the optimizer, how
it "flattens" subqueries. We put it in /etc/profile.
2) composite indexes on temporary tables do not work within either 4gl or
dbaccess.
3) general performance problems without the NO_SUBQF environment variable.
4) bug with running a level 1 archive -- the problem is with the temporary
dbspace flag. the fix was either make the temp spaces real spaces, or we've
been running a level 0 archive to /dev/null before running the level 1. for
some reason this works.
We also found that the output of some onstat commands changed, so any scripts
relying on onstat outputs will need to change. I can't remember which one it
was.
Hope this give you enough heads up. I strongly suggest thorough testing of
all 4gl programs you may use.
