Others are helping you with your connectivity problems so I'll
concentrate on your perceptual problems. First is nomenclature. What
you called a database in Approach is known as a table in Relational
Database parlance. A database is a collection of tables containing
related data entities. A table is a collection of rows, or tuples, (or
records in older parlance) representing a single data entity and
containing related columns (or fields). So the demonstration database
'stores', included in your Informix SE distribution, contains tables
representing orders, item detail for each order, customers, etc.
Download the online documentation from the Informix WEB site and start
with the SQL Tutorial which will explain much. You basically build
new tables with the create table statement:
create table <tablename> ( colname1 coltype, colname2 coltype,...);
