Hi all - first time post-ee here. I need to store .pdf files in Informix (Dynamic Server 10 on Linux) After days of futile research I am still unsure which direction to take. What is the "best practice" method for storing large objects in Informix? Should I setup and use a blobspace? Can a byte data type column be used? If so, how do you populate it? Any insight is appreciated! Thanks.

You can see ways of populating it here: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/idshelp/v10/topic/com.ibm.sqlr.doc/sqlrmst101.htm#sii-02-39286 Maybe you should try drinking. Yes

Yes
Just like -
CREATE TABLE foo (
normal_field_1 INT,
normal_field_2 CHAR(12),
blob_field BYTE IN blobspace
) IN tablespace;

? Via SQL?
We have a large blobpace in Informix on Linux used to store PDFs.
Thank you, Adam. I'm no DBA so please bear with me. > > If so, how do you populate it? > > ? Via SQL? I figured, but I'm not clear on the syntax....what do you use to populate and retrieve? (load, unload, what is filetoblob?..etc..) Thanks, again!
