Alan, Thanks for that. I would hope by now that the early 486's would have been sold or replaced long since. :-) As it happens, we signed up to become Interactive Resellers yesterday so it looks like I'll be getting a direct line to people at SunSoft in the UK who can assist me with this. For interest, there is another problem with this can of worms, when you shutdown the system, it says "Press any key to reboot." This particular string lives in the kernal. On the 486's, press any key you like, nothing happens. The engineers, at my behest, had disables the reset button since these machines were going out to naive customers who were used to DOS machines. I've had to have them re-enable these. Again, this problem does not exist on the 386's. Of course, it could be the BIOS. At this point, I rant and rave at the entire state of Intel based technology.
