Informix Float ?

Hi, I'm attempting to read some CISAM files produced using Informix. I have a record that contains numerous Informix-floats. Does anyone know how they are stored? Are these stored as standard C-type floats (float/double)? I don't have a copy of the Informix manuals (or software), does anyone know of a good place of reference concerning Informix data types' storage.
