In order to access db1@B from A, the user on A has to have an account with the same name on B and a ".rhosts" entry for A in his home directory= on B (or A must be in B's "hosts.equiv" file, which is even worse). This is the way Informix handles network access permissions. So the answer to your question is yes. Just don't give the user on B any .rhosts permissions on A, and you're all set.
