Informix CLI 32 to Informix Online 5.0

We are running Informix Online 7.0 on NT and Online 5.0 on HP-UX. I've no problem getting my PC to connect to Online 7.0 but always get Error -908 when I tried with Online 5.0. I can perform a loopback from my HP which I did by using isql specifying the database name as database@server. I would appreciate all the help that I can get.
