RE: Informix UC7.41 - slow

Geezer- Processors aren't the only bits of hardware that affect IO performance. What is your bus speed and what types of disks are on the two systems and what is the connection (Fiber Channel, Wide Ultra SCSI, etc.)? A 10,000 RPM disk with a big (say 2 Mb) cache connected by Wide Ultra SCSI on a slow system may very well out perform a fast system with Single Ended SCSI and a 5,000 RPM disk. This is, of course assuming that the two systems are otherwise configured in a similar manner. --EEM > -----Original Message----- > From: Geezer From The Freezer [mailto:Geezer@Freezer.com] > Sent: Tuesday, January 18, 2005 5:12 AM > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Re: Informix UC7.41 - slow > > > > malcolm weallans wrote: > > > > I would query how you can define that it is running slow when it is a > > test system.
