Do you need a license for informix developement in windows - I did not think you did. We have been told you do
That depends on what you mean be "a license for informix developement"? The CSDK - C Software Development Kit is free on all platforms and you can use it to produce programs that access Informix using Embedded SQL/C, CLI (aka ODBC), C++, Java, etc. Users would need some Edition of the Informix database engine in order to be able to use the software you develop with the CSDK and some of those Editions are free and others are not free. You can install and use the Developer Edition for free for development ONLY within its resource and storage limitations, you cannot use it in production. Only community support (ie this forum) and installation support is available. You can install the Innovator-C Edition of the database server currently on Linux or Windows (Solaris is not available for now) and use if for free for any purpose except to redistribute it so long as you stay within the resource limitations. Full support is available for a rather nominal license. Redistribution embedded in or included with 3rd party software is governed by a distribution agreement with IBM. All other database engine Editions are governed by for-cost licenses. ISQL is governed by for-cost development and run-time licenses. C4GL, R4GL, and Genero are governed by for-cost development and run-time licenses. If that doesn't cover it, what DO you mean? Art Art S.
