Any words of wisdom on the : difference between olsoctcp and tcp? Would it be save to change the tcp : to olsoctcp (there are other applications currently running the machine : and accessing the databases via this alias.) There is an inconsistency in your posting. You are not saying whether you are using SE or ONLINE as backend, but you are stating that you are using I-Net. This implies that SE is the backend, whereas Online would require I-Star as networking component. However, from your sqlhosts file, I read that you are using Online/Star. Is this assumption correct? If so, olsoctcp is the correct entry: ol for Online, soc for Berkeley sockets, and tcp for TCP/IP. The manual says: If the nettype value is not 8 characters long, the Relay Module uses the default value of ol for the server type, while the values for the net- work interface and network protocol are platform dependent.
