Norwood, et al, Delphi uses the Borland Database Engine (BDE) technology to allow heterogenous joins within a single application. Anyone using Delphi or more specifically the BDE can accomplish this feat. Delphi Client/Server includes the BDE and Native SQL drivers for Informix, Borland InterBase, Oracle, Sybase, MS-SQL, and recently released DB2 drivers. It also supports ODBC.
