Hi gang, When did "KEY_ACCEPT" become disallowed as a global variable name in the compiled version of 4GL? (It works as a local variable, and as a global variable in 4GL-RDS, and as a global variable in all other versions of c4gl we have used.) We are recompiling our programs on a recently upgraded RS6000 running AIX 4.3.1 with these new versions of Informix: INFORMIX-4GL RDS Version 4.20.UC1 INFORMIX-4GL Version 4.20.UC1 INFORMIX-OnLine Version 5.10.UC1 Our programs all use the same global definition file (globals.4gl), whether we compile to p-code or machine code. The compiles done with this 4.20 version of the c4gl compiler won't compile. Compiles done with this 4.20 version of the fglpc compiler do compile fine. It is due to a global variable, that is now used in almost all of our programs. We don't want to have to edit all of programs! Here is the simplest example exhibiting the problem: =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= GLOBALS DEFINE KEY_ACCEPT INTEGER END GLOBALS MAIN LET KEY_ACCEPT = fgl_keyval("ACCEPT") END MAIN =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= The compile time error generated is: (ld): resolve ld: 0711-228 WARNING: Duplicate symbols were found while resolving symbols. The following duplicates were found: Symbol Source-File(Object) OR Import-File{Shared-object} ------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- key_accept rdsterm.c(/usr/informix/lib/tools/libnforms.a[rdsterm.o]) ** Duplicate ** junk.c(junk.o) ld: 0711-326 ERROR: Replaced XTY_CM symbol key_accept is larger than the symbol that replaces it. I guess libnforms.a is only used by c4gl? -- ______________________________________________________________________ | Colin McGrath cmm@trac3000.ueci.com | | Raytheon Engineers & Constructors, Inc.
