Need help with hp volume management and Informix

Greetings, I work with a large non profit relief and development organization that uses informix7.2 on a hp9000 version 10.10 of the os. We have created for each db space a hard link to logical volume within a volume group. So what we have is 30 volume groups with 30 logical volumes each with a hard link to a informix dbspace. We did this in order to take advantape of pvlink which allows to have a failover for our EMC diskfarm. The question is has anyone else done this, using informix with volume management on a hp machine, how have you setup your enviornment. We suspect that what we did may not be the right way to go.
