My goodness.. SCO!!...
Try Linux !
You can get a vey capable distribution (I suggest Mandrake 9.1) for just
about US5 or less.
The you can join iiug, I supposed you are, if not follow this link and
subscribe:
http://www.iiug.org/cgi-bin/fglcl.cgi?join&Ajeansagi@myrealbox.com
After doing so, join to the member area and click on the download
section button.
There you find IDS 9.4,SE X.xx,Online 5.2 for Linux and Windows
Install them; I used Mandrake since 8.1 through 9.1 and never had any
"hard" problems. All was resolved without much trouble. At IIUG forums
you can ask and every one and they will promptly answer any question
including IBM-Informix people).
And finally issue a dbaccess in a shells and choose Query, select any
database, and do a "select * from systables"... that's all.
In regards to books at www.iiug.org there is a recent link to Informix
and DB2 books:
http://www-3.ibm.com/software/data/education/bookstore/ref.html
You have plenty to choose from.
Chucho!
