drop offline chunk

Hi,
A chunk of a dbspace in my instance is down for hardware reason. There
is no mirror on it. I want to drop it from the dbspace. When I
ran 'onspaces -d ...' I got the following error message:
Chunk not dropped.
ISAM error: Primary and Mirror chunks are bad
And the bad chunk is still there. Could anyone please let me know how
to do with it? Thanks.

You can only drop an empty chunk if it is online. You need to call
Informix technical support and tell them to make it online so that you
can drop the chunk. All they have to do is to run oncheck -S

Thank you very much, Norman.
I just called Informix technical support. Now it's online. They said
they changed something in the reserved pages to mark it online and
empty. They said I don't need to drop it now.
Btw, what does 'oncheck -S' do? Can I run it myself?
Thanks again

You cannot do it. Replace the chunk either by replacing the disk or by
linking another to the same path or link and restore the entire dbspace
from backup. There is no way to drop a chunk that has data in it even if
it were NOT offline.
