Size on Ontape Backup
Posted in 1998
Hi all,
I know that variations of this question have been asked before, but my
question is a little different ( I hope ). I just need to know how the size of
an ontape level 0 backup varies with actual dbspace size. What I mean is, if I
add a new dbspace with 5 chunks, and don't add data to it, will my ontape
bakckup size increase by 10GB ( if 2GB is the size of a chunk ). I'm pretty sure
it doesn't, but I am planning to re-org my database to a large extent, will be
adding new disks, new dbspaces, new chunks etc and I want to accurately
determine the number of tapes needed. Of course, I am not going to leave my
dbspaces empty, I plan to move large tables to their own dbspaces, but I intend
to take one backup with the new dbspaces/chunks before I start the real move.
Thanks as usual
Sujata
