Hi I'm logged in on a aix system. And I have an other aix system with a Informix DB. How can I make a selct on this aix system with the db??? What is the syntax? Can I make it with a script??? Because I will save the query return in a file... Best regards

You have many options, but the majority start with the installation of at least I-Connect or possibly ClientSDK on the machine where you want to do the work. This is the software that permits you to connect to IDS databases - whether on the local machine or on remote machines. With that in place, you can then decide which options you want to pursue further. * Write your own access code. * Use SQLCMD from the IIUG Software Archive http://www.iiug.org/software (note: I wrote it; unbiassed views improbable). * Use Perl + DBI + DBD::Informix from CPAN http://www.cpan.org/ (note: I wrote DBD::Informix; unbiassed views improbable). * use Python + InformixDB (not sure of capitalization) from SourceForge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/informixdb) (No, I didn't have anything to do with writing this one). * Use Tcl/Tk and ISQLTcl from SourceForge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/isqltcl). Yes, I had a hand in this one, but not recently. * Use Marco Greco's tool SQSL from http://www.4glworks.com/. * Use any of a number of other commercial or semi-commercial products. * Install IDS and use DB-Access. ...and the options probably don't stop there, but they'll get you going. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2005.02 -- http://dbi.perl.org/
