Concatenation problem on ver 7.20 UD$

I am getting a concatenation run time problem with R4gl version 7.20 when calling a function that returns the value and assigning the value to a variable. The data types of the variable being returned in the function is the same as the one in the main program but i get this error '4401' ; I Also tried to increase the variable length on the recieving variable to twice that of the returned variable but still doesnt work. I used to have version 4 and the program was working fine.
