My concern would be running >this over a dial-up..... > >Jon > One of the features of 7.3 is sporadic connections (mobil). What this does is to create a "store forward" queue for a target. When the targets wants to connect/replicate it would issue a "cdr connect" command. This would cause the transfer of the data within the store forward queue. Also data from the sporadic connection is transfered to the non-sporadic server. This allows the ACKs to the source to be done without having to be done on the source machine. Once the transmission is done, a "cdr disconnect" command can be issued to terminate the transfer of data. This allows the "replay" phase of ER to be done outside of the data transfer. This approach is designed to support replication over PPP as well as non-PPP TCP/IP connections. For instance a cron job could be set up to do the dial/PPP-connect/CDR-connect/CDR-disconnect/hangup.
