Hello Andreas,
there is no system immanent reason for not deleting so many records. One Reason
could be that you ran out of locks, this could be fixed by doing a "table
lock" previous deleting.
But depending on the number of total rows it might be even faster to do a :
create table b like a;
insert into b select all what i need from a;drop a;
rename b to a;
If you have got many indexes deletes often "cost" a lot and so if you delete
more than 20 % of yout table rows, this might be the better performing way to
do a cleanup.
