What
sucks:
GUI-only installation, needs X, java, miscellaneous crap, needs about
4GB of free space for engine, online backups is a PITA, adding large
data spaces may take dozens of minutes (compare onspaces, just seconds)
What looks cool is the shell-like Sqlplus environment, isolating users
from OS. Well, I may be wrong. This is what I see quite often from
fellow Oracle DBA's at work as their sysadmin.

Greetings,
My company makes software which runs on top of many commercial DB's. I
have our software up and running on Informix (aix 5.1). No worries.
However, I am in the process of installing Oracle on a Solaris box and
to be honest, their documentation is not on par with the "industry
leader". Note: I said "industry leader", not the "industries best".
The install script also..., sucks. Am I a moron or do any of you
feel the same way?

Not only needing Java, but a specific version of java which may not be
present on your machine - in which case, you are in for a nightmare.
