Triggers on Sysmaster tables ...

hi all, I have a unique requirement to log all the users connecting to a server (to a table residing in a monitoring database)once for each successful connection. The table should have unique users who were able to connect to the server. I have explored the possibility of creating a trigger on the relevant sysmaster tables. But as Informix manages the sysmaster database by not using the SQL statements, on which the triggers are built on, I am left with two options a. creat a shell/perl script to monitor the users at regular intervals and update the table. b. create an alarm file for onprobe/oncockpit and have a stored procedure do the same job. But I feel both will far less efficient and can often miss the users who connect to the server only for seconds (even if the alarm file/scripts execution interval every few seconds). Is there a better way of getting the job done? I would appreciate any suggestions or solutions, thanks. Vj rambabu@sprynet.com
