Interupting a SQL statement in a 4gl

Informix Online 5.x SQL 4.x I have a program in which I use deffer interrupt, but when it comes to a select statement on a form, I wish the user to be able to interrupt it if it takes to long. Is this possible. Thank You Adam Sorati
