There are *no* problems if you display and key in 4 digit years all the time. If you don't display 4 digit years you get all sorts of problems whatever you do. How is the user going to be sure that 00 means 2000 not 1900 even with DBCENTURY in use. If it wasn't set for some user or possibly if it was set wrong 00 would be stored as 1900, not 2000. Even if you do display 4 digits for the year you might have users who want to key only 2 digits. This is mainly an issue for those who need to key a lot of dates all day long. In this case you need DBCENTURY to make sure the 2 digits are interpreted correctly. > >On Thu, 3 Sep 1998, Jon Myatt wrote: > >> 4GL 6.0 doesn't know about DBCENTURY - that could be a problem >> for you if you intend to keep using 2-digit years. 4GL 7.2 is OK. >> >> Jon. >> >> RAJESH KUMARAN wrote: >> >> > >> > I am using informix online 7.3 on a dec-alpha machine.
