Re: Onbar backup problems

Hi,
it occured to me also, that this could be a problem.
So actually the error then has the meaning that you are
somehow running out of some resource. I don't know
about Windows, so I've no idea what this resource would
be or why this then gets mapped to 154.
With BAR_MAX_BACKUP set to 0 onbar will (try to) start
as many processes as there are dbspaces to backup (after
rootdbs has been backed up). Depending on your instance,
this can be a lot of backup processes getting started.
And apparently on your Windows machine "a lot" is a number
around 8 ...
There is no universal recommendation for the setting of
BAR_MAX_BACKUP. The recommendation is to find out,
how many parallel backup processes the system as a whole
and the storage manager in particular can handle. (Seems to
be around 8 on your system.) From this number you
subtract 1 for logical log backup, because it can be triggered
any time even during parallel dbspace backup.
The resulting number is your recommended
BAR_MAX_BACKUP setting. Now this is true for the IDS instance that utilizes the
storage manager exclusively. If you utilize your storage
manager for still other things (other IDS instance, possibly
on a different machine, or some system backup tasks),
then you may have to take these things into account as well.

Martin
