I am using IDS 7.31 and my databaseis 80gig, running on HP-UX 11.0 and
8 Gig of ram.My backup is taking around 8hrs to finish and i suspect my
tape device configuration has could be contibuting somehow .I am using
ontape and doing a level 0 backup!Below is my configuration settings in
onconfig.live.Can someone help me with the ideal tape size and
recommendations or advice,Thanks in advance!
# System Archive Tape Device
TAPEDEV /dev/rmt/c5t3d0BEST # Tape device path
TAPEBLK 6144 # Tape block size (Kbytes)
TAPESIZE 80000000 # Maximum amount of data to put on tape
(Kbytes)
# Log Archive Tape Device
LTAPEDEV /dev/rmt/c5t4d0BEST dev/rmt/1m # Log tape device
pat
LTAPEBLK 6144 # Log tape block size (Kbytes)
LTAPESIZE 80000000 # Max amount of data to put on log tape
(Kbytes)
It is very very unscientific but it has always worked for me, increase
the block size until the light stops flashing (check your manual)
