My understanding was that this would need to be done by Informix. I first generated a Feature Request circa 1989. Informix Marketing(Steve Hill)'s attitude was that it wasn't worth the effort as the products "worked" without it. Although I accept their argument that this would be a non-trivial task (unless someone more 'C' literate than I knows different) I really feel that they ought to have bitten the bullet by now. By the way Informix, if you're listening: Wouldn't the memory saving have a noticeable effect on tps[AB]/$? Wouldn't this make it worthwhile? I know the savings would be at the client side, but if it enabled you to reduce the number of FEPs, wouldn't it show up in tps/$? graeme -- Disclaimer: The author's opinions are his own, and not necessarily those of Pyramid Technology Ltd. or Pyramid Technology Inc. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- -m------- Graeme Sargent Voice: +44 (0)252 373035 ---mmm----- Senior Database Consultant Fax : +44 (0)252 373135 -----mmmmm--- Pyramid Technology Ltd.
