What's this ifmxalrm program in 7.30 ?

Hi, I upgraded three servers (on the same machine) from 7.23 to 7.30. On one of those, the ifmxalrm program, that starts every time a log is full, never stops. So I had thousands of them running. I renamed this program so that it does not start automatically. Eerything looks to be find. My question is : What is the goal of this program ? I cannot find anything in the manuals.
