My solutions were based on trying to get the data isolated in to a separate table so that they could perform their queries or do any sort of analytics without impacting their OLTP environment. (Ok, using a trigger to write to a separate table would have a minimal performance impact.) The OP hasn't said how important 'real time' data is for them.
