There are many more things to tune, environment variables to set, and hardware options available. You should attend the course: "Upgrading to Informix-OnLine Dynamic Server" It takes four days, and comes with a book (part number 502-5-227-999999-3). I don't think you can order the book without taking the course. The version 7 docs also come with an upgrade manual. OTOH, the class teaches you a method for "instant upgrage" which doesn't even require you to unload your data. Of course, you don't get most of the advantages of version 7, either. :) > Are there any problems? There have been a few, mostly platform-specific. Check out the Informix Informix-Link web pages (www.informix.com) for the latest product versions. Look for v7.2 for your platform. Be sure to run the UPDATE STATISTICS command! ;) > I also heared a rumor that I-STAR is no longer needed in 7.x? Is this true? The I-Star functionality is included with version 7 for no extra charge. Version 7 is a lot more fun to play with, from the DBA view.
