We are experiencing the same behavior, and informix has been no help! The only difference with our system is that after 10 or so mins. of this 'freeze' we get 'can not open netserve.iem' when we try and go into isql, and 'warning network is down' when we try to go into onmonitor -- BUT everyone that was running before this (isql, 4ge whatever) still continues to work fine..
