Affinity in IDS 2000 under Windows Server 2000
Posted in 2004
Please, I need some help about an issue: I have a machine with 2 processors and a IDS 2000 installed on it. But I need to share the processing of Informix over 2 processors. But all the time that I change the MULTIPROCESSOR, NUMCPUVPS, SINGLE_CPU_VP, NOAGE, AFF_SPROC, AFF_NPROCS and NUMAIOVPS, my system begins unstable and IDS doesn't stay up. I guess that this may be a conflict with the operation system, that is Windows 2000 Server. Because, when I rollback the configuration on ONCONFIG file to the default configuration (only 1 processor), and I make the affinity tunning in the Windows Task Manager directly in the Informix process (oninit.exe), I have the same result with a stable environment. But this modification made by Windows Task Manager isn't persistent and each time that the machine is restarted, I need to change the affinity again. Somebody has some experience about this? To improve the process balance for Informix application in the Windows 2000 environment?
