Re: Informix at Walmart

Walmart is a large company and most likely has applications on several of the DBMS's that are available today. The main question should be. What is the size and type of application running in Informix 5.xx, 7.xx, or XPS 8.xx? It is my understanding that Walmart is a very large user of NCR 5100 Worldmart and NCR Teradata DBMS for very large decision support and warehouse applications. Does your application fit this category? What is the size of your database? Do you a good production user profile (ad hoc or controlled queries, concurrent users, etc)? Make sure you a making maximum use of your CPU's and memory.. Informix loves more memory and more CPU's. Cash can usually fix any tuning problem.
