demote Informix domain controller

We have a server with Informix on it as a domain controller. We would like to downgrade it from the domain controller and add this server to another domain. We are able to demote it, but the service will not stay running. We get the following error in the Event Viewer: Could not initialize the security subsystem. Please ensure that this account has the necessary privileges and ensure INFORMIXSERVER value exists in the registry and environment. Does anyone have any ideas where to start looking to correct this error? Thanks Rhonda

How (which user) does the ids service start? If you switched domains, the existing informix user ma be not valid anymore if informix was created as a domain ( in the now non exististing domain) account. Check the services entry, there is a "start as user" like entry in the properties of the not working service.
