The conference and exhibition will be held July 8-10, 1992 at the San Jose Convention Center, San Jose, California. Four session tracks will be included in the conference, with a total of 80 different sessions that will provide attendees with information on new products and services, current R&D as well as trends in the UNIX and database markets. A 50,000 square foot exhibition hall will host over 100 vendors and Informix partners, who will be showcasing products and solutions for the growing Informix community. "This will be a very exciting and informative users conference," said Roger Sippl, Chairman, Informix Software. "Those attending the conference will get the latest information on products, services and solutions from Informix and our partners, as well as being treated to provocative sessions presented by both Informix personnel and other industry experts. We feel our first-ever users conference will meet and exceed the expectations of our customers." The three-day conference and exhibition is expected to draw more than 1000 attendees. Informix's management; Roger Sippl (Chairman), Phil White (President and CEO) and Chuck House (Senior Vice President of Product Marketing and Product Development) will be addressing the conference in general sessions each morning to discuss the latest Informix products and services. "Each conference session has been carefully considered and scheduled with the customer in mind," said Bob Macdonald, vice president, Corporate Communications. "In addition to substantive sessions, attendees of the conference will also have access to an exhibit area, where the latest Informix software will be shown. Many of our VARs and OEMs will also be exhibiting - it will be the ideal setting for both Informix customers and those evaluating database software - to see the latest products and solutions available." The conference will feature four tracks: Application Development Tools, Engines and Connectivity, Applications, and a Management track. With over 80 conference sessions and six 1/2 day tutorials, attendees can expect to hear presentations on a vast array of topics. The management track will feature presentations on: portability, standards, object-oriented tools, internationalization issues, marketing for applications developers as well as an introduction to relational database technology. The tools track will offer sessions on: SQL, CASE tools, the BLOB data types, DOS/Wingz tools and GUI support. The applications track will be composed of submitted presentations by Informix users and partners. With large numbers of workstations now connected through local area networks, database applications that can help users leverage this technology investment are becoming increasingly critical. This is the focus of the engines and connectivity track. Sessions on resource management, on-line transaction processing (OLTP), referential integrity, optical disk issues, optimizing for networks and gateway technology will be included in the engines and connectivity track. The Informix Worldwide Users Conference will provide a valuable forum for Informix users to interact with Informix management, while the exhibit area will provide a "hands-on" environment for evaluation of new Informix products and solutions with full on-site technical support. All conference attendees will receive a full set of conference papers and proceedings. Meeting space will be provided for regional users groups or groups focusing on emerging standards.
