It works like a charm. Much better than I expected. You don't even need I-net. Retriever comes in two parts. One is specific to the host O/S & backend database (I am using Informix on a SCO platform). The other part resides on the PC end. The two parts communicate via Remote procedure calls, or via a rlogin if required. The product includes Novell TCPIP for the network software. You can also use products such as Excel, Lotus, Word & Quotro Pro to query Informix by making DDE calls on a part of SQL-Retriever called SQL-Exchange. This converts DDE into ODBC! Cost is around $500 Australian dollars. You can contact Visionware in the UK on info@visionware.co.uk They also have a US office and email address. Chris Young
