IPRA (Theo) installed Informix WS on NT Workstation 4 SP4 and the install hung initializing disk storage; the -iy startup did not work. Wolfgang Zager advised creating the missing rootdbs chunk files listed in ONCONFIG (TYPE NIL > filename). Yuri Dovgart suggested running starts with -iy from the command prompt and asked about SP4 compliance; Wolfgang said 7.30 TC7 or 7.23 TC14 is compliant. Unresolved.

Hi,
I installed Informix WS on NT-Workstation 4(SP 4).
Before the installation process ends the program hangs in the initialization
of the disk storage.
I reinstalled it and the same problem appeared.
Does anyone know how to make a manual disk storage initialization.
The start up of the informix WS service with parameter -iy don't work.
Thanks,
Theo

Hi,
manual installation with option -iy should work. Maybe there are no files
for Your primary
chunk of rootdbs.
Take a look in Your ONCONFIG and create empty files for the two chunks, or
without mirroring
one chunk, using
TYPE NIL > "filename".
I've done this several times an it works fine.

Try this "starts [NT_Informix_service_name] -iy" from the command
prompt. BTW, is your Informix compliant with SP 4 ?

Version 7.30 TC7 or 7.23 TC14 is SP4-compliant.
