Can't empty logical-log files
Posted in 1997
Hi all,
Informix 7.12
Solaris 2x
We're a software development company using ODBC to connect to all major
databases. Jack of all databases master of none.
We have log files (status U - B) that won't clear when we perform an ontape
-s -L 0.
Macumba, book of great truth and knowledge, says they probably can't be
released because we've executed long transactions. We are guilty of that.
It says we have to perform a full restore to rectify this issue. Is this
true?
Our databases are only for testing our software. We don't keep tape
backups. Instead we do database exports at various times. Is there
another alternative. Can we just drop the log files somehow? If we have a
recovery problem, we can just re-import the databases.
Thanks in advance for any kind words,
Bill
