What are the definition of the field. Do you talk about a char(x) column or some numeric column? If it's numeric you can't put a char value into it anyway. If that makes the database crash it's an Informix bug, but shouldn't be a significant problem. If it's a char column and you can insert a numeric value, but not a character value it sounds like a more serious bug. Pleas post some more info (the table definition and your insert statement). You mean ONINIT halts (there are no tbinit in 7.20). What's the content of the log file? You should also upgrade to 7.21/7.22 or whatever is the latest version on Solaris 2.5. Ver. 7.20 had some bugs. I don't know if they had anything to do with your problems, but you should still upgrade. :I did the same probe using an Online 5.05 engine and works!!!!! :Does anybody can help me with this??? :The more big problem is than Gupta tries connecting Informix using :sql501.dll and unless I use another drivers nothing happens.... Using what drivers? Do you have problems with I-Net 5.01 but not 5.02? For 7.2 there is the newer Connect product you should use. :IDEAS?????? : :Thanks in advance, :Javier Puente :Corporacion NOboa Nils.Myklebust@idg.no NM Data AS, P.O.Box 9090 Gronland, N-0133 Oslo, Norway My opinions are those of my company The Informix FAQ is at http://www.iiug.org
