Hello. it's me again.
I think this is to do with fragmentation. The data you deleted leaves
behind 'holes' in the dbspace.
To get the space back you need to unload the data, drop/recreate the
table and load the data back in.
I'm sure there is a better hi-tech answer but that's the way its been
explained to me.
