Leaky Collections?!

Hi Anyone had problems with memory leaks on collection data? I have a table with a LIST(REAL NOT NULL) and each collection is about 90 numbers. If I do... select a from t ; where a is the collection my session memory usage just rockets! For 5000 rows it goes up to nearly 8 MB! Its all freed at the end of the query but some of my queries just wont run if I reference multiple columns or worse use UDRs. Is it caching the values or something?! Thanks Peter
