prepared insert into a synonym
Posted in 1993
I have a question about preparing an insert into a synonym.
I have created a synonym to a table in another database on another
platform. When I prepare an insert statement into that synonym
I get a "table not found in database" error. The error message
contains garbage characters, not the name of the synonym.
You can print the string that's being prepared and it looks fine
but the prepare fails. Here's a code segment:
let string = "create synonym signal_type for scott:signal_type"
prepare a from string
execute a
let string = " insert into signal_type values (?, ?, ?) "
prepare x from string
Here's the run-time error you get on the prepare:
Program stopped at "x.4gl", line number 39.
SQL statement error number -206.
The specified table (scott:informixT
'
/+.aptrhh11) is not in the database.
SYSTEM error number -111.
ISAM error: no record found.
If you have any suggestions/ideas/experiences please drop some e-mail

Thanks... Scott (the GRR-GUY)
