PROBLEMS WITH LOCATE AND TEXT VARIABLE
Posted in 1995
Hi, first here is the environment: AIX 3.2.5 : INFORMIX PRODUCTS: I4GP DEVELOPMENT Ver 4.12.UE3 ISQL DEVELOPMENT Ver 4.12.UE2 ON-LINE DEVELOP. Ver 5.03.UC2 STAR Ver 5.02.UC6 SCO 3.2r4.2 : INFORMIX PRODUCTS: I4GP DEVELOPMENT Ver 4.10.UC2 ISQL DEVELOPMENT Ver 4.10.UC2 ON-LINE DEVELOP. Ver 5.01.UD2 STAR Ver 5.01.UD2 We have a net between these two systems. Here's a piece of the code DEFINE t_obs_util TEXT display 'small test' ......... LET cNome_fich = "/tmp/A.", getproc() USING "&&&&&&" LOCATE t_obs_util IN FILE cNome_fich ........ INPUT BY NAME rObsReg.* WITHOUT DEFAULTS ........ Our MAJOR problem is in AIX system. Suddenly without any warning and justification the program started to give the following error: -450 Illegal ESQL locator, or uninitialized blob variable in 4GL. A BYTE or TEXT host variable used in this statement is not valid. If this is a 4GL program, the variable has not been initialized by use of the LOCATE statement, or was freed after being located. Review the program logic to make sure all BLOB variables are located before use. If this is ESQL/C, the locator structure is invalid or uninitialized. Make sure that all locator structures are allocated and filled in before use. Notice the instruction 'display', the error is before the display. This problem doesn't existe in SCO system EXACTLY with the same environment and programs. We are VERY DESPERATE, we don't know what to do. If there is somebody who can give us a hint we'd be VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERY much obliged. Thank's in advance for your advises and may the force be with you. Bye Bye
