Re: How to connect Java/JDBC with Connection Manag
Posted in 2013
User asked how to connect Java/JDBC to Informix with Connection Manager from a Windows client when the server is on AIX. Solution: Create a sqlhosts file locally on Windows, set SQLH_FILE parameter in JDBC connection URL, and install Informix CSDK on Windows client. For dbaccess access, use setnet32 to define the server.

Yes, it's on the JDBC side, create the sqlhosts file and in the url set SQLH_FILE pointing to it. for example String url ="jdbc:informix-sqli:/sysmaster:informixserver=oltp;use r=informix;password=xxxxxxxx;SQLH_TYPE=FILE;SQLH_FILE=c:\\\\\\\\informix\\\\\\\\jdbc\\\\\\\\test\\\\\\\\ sqlhosts.cm"; my sqlhosts file oltp group - - i=100,e=oltp2 oltp1 onsoctcp mach1 9910 g=oltp oltp2 onsoctcp mach1 9920 g=oltp and the test program can connect.
Hi, Just a little confused, you might be able to help me. As my client is running in Windows OS, and my Informix server & CM is on AIX. So if I want to connect it from client using JDBC, then do I need to have both client SDK installed on Windows and I also have to do make the sqlhosts file locally on windows? Or by simply having created the sqlhosts file is sufficient?
You will need the version of the Java jar which supports this syntax and you will need the sqlhost file on your windows server. -----Original Message----- From: ids-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:ids-bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of O KHAN Sent: Monday, July 08, 2013 3:39 PM To: ids@iiug.org Subject: Re: How to connect Java/JDBC with Connection Manag [30788] Hi, Just a little confused, you might be able to help me. You need the CSDK in order to get the ODBC/JDBC drivers, so, both. Art Art S. Hi Art,
I dont think that JDBC is part of windows CSDK, I have installed (Informix
CSDK 4.10 TC1DE) and I am unable to find the JDBC driver.
Also, after installing the CSDK, I am unable to find the dbaccess as well on
my windows client side.
Do i need to perform anything extra to be able to use dbaccess with Informix
CSDK?
Thanks.
Regards,
Khan
To use dbaccess you need to define the server using setnet32.
My understanding is that JDBC uses the ODBC driver which is included in the
CSDK.
