NewEra and Informix 5.05 - on HP UX 9.05 Connection Problems

Hi, I'm trying to evaluate a version of NewEra 1.0 running under HP UX 9.05. I have defined all of the environment variables required for NewEra and can run it successfully. However, I cannot get any of the NewEra tools to connect to our Informix 5.05 database. We are currently running Informix OnLine and the database is local to the computer I am using. I have defined the service in the sqlhosts and in /etc/services. None of this has allowed me to get connect properly. Has anyone else out there successfully installed NewEra with Informix 5 ?
