Bug in Informix-4GL c4gl script
Posted in 1991
We have recently upgraded our Informix products with new versions received from Informix Software Australia. We are running SCO ODT 1.0 and the Informix base port is the one for a COMPAQ 386. The upgrade included Informix 4GL V4.00.UG1A4 (packaged as 4.00.UG2). Testing of the upgrade has revealed a bug in the shell script that is used to invoke the 4GL compiler from the command line - /usr/informix/bin/c4gl The bug causes any 4GL program to fail compilation during the link step. Its symptoms are the following messages: undefined first referenced symbol in file tigetstr /usr/informix/lib/libforms.a tigetnum /usr/informix/lib/libforms.a tparm /usr/informix/lib/libforms.a setupterm /usr/informix/lib/libforms.a tigetflag /usr/informix/lib/libforms.a ld fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to .... If you experience this problem try the following fix: Add -lcurses on the tail end of the "exec cc" line to be found near the end of the c4gl script. The problem has been reported to Informix Software and we are awaiting a reply. I do not know whether the problem occurs in versions of the 4GL other than 4.00.UG1A4. It did _not_ occur in versions 4.00.UD2 or 4.00.UE3 for example. +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Ron Lees | | NEC Information Systems Australia Pty Ltd | | Software Development Centre (Canberra) | | | | Email: rlees@pdact.pd.necisa.oz.au | | Snail: PO Box 244, Belconnen A.C.T. 2616, AUSTRALIA | | Voice: + 61 6 251 6411 | | Fax: + 61 6 251 6947 | | | | Any registered trademarks belong to their respective corporations | | but the English language belongs to the public.
